Penpals wanted :o)

Some months ago I discoverd how much I enjoy letterwriting and so one of my new-years-resolutions was to write more and type less. By now I think I could fulfill it and have written quite some letters to several friends.
Now I would like to have some more penpals! So if you love letters, too please feel free to contact me :))

My first attempt in vintage sewing

Das ist nun mein erster und recht spontaner Versuch es auch mal mit dem "Vintagestyle" zu versuchen.
Letzte Woche entdeckte ich via pinterest einen Schnitt den ich einfach haben musste und auch gleich gekauft habe. Da ich Schnitte nur allzugern kaufe um sie dann zu horten habe ich mir in diesem Falle kräftig selbst in den Allerwerthesten getreten, sofort einen passenden Stoff gekauft (hier muss ich hinzufügen, dass sich in meinem Vorrat keinerlei Stoffe für "moderne" Kleider befinden) und losgenäht.
Als kleinen Gag habe ich für einen falschen Saum und als Oberteilfutter einen braune Vichikaro-Baumwolle verwendet. Vielleicht werde ich daraus auch noch eine Brosche und ein Täschchen machen.
Ich weiß, die Wollstrumpfhose sieht nicht gerade elegant aus, aber hier ist es lausig kalt...

Now this is my first and very spontanous attempt with vintagesewing.
Last weed I discoverd a lovely pattern on pinterest wich I simply needed and I bought it instantly. As I'm infamous for hording patterns instead of using them I didn't loose time and also bought a fabric (I have to add, that there is absolutely no fabric for modern dresses in my stash) and began to sew.
As a little gizmo I did use a brown gingham for a false hem and as lining for the bodice, maybe I will make a brooch and a small bag of it, too.
I know, my woolen tights don't look very elegant, but it is so cold here...

UFO reloaded!

A long time ago...

2007 begann ich mit einer Patchworkdecke in english Paperpiecingtechnik. Letztes Jahr habe ich sie wieder ausgegraben, aber wegen meines lädierten Handgelenks musste ich eine Zwangspause in Punkto Handnähen einlegen und es hat wesentlich länger gedauert als gedacht, aber nun ist sie endlich fertig!!!! Oder fast fertig- jetzt geht's ans Quilten ;o)
Ich hoffe es diese Woche noch zum Quiltladen zu schaffen und Stoff für die Rückseite zu kaufen, dann werde ich nächstes Wochenende das "Sandwich" heften können. Mal sehen wie es voran geht.

In 2007 I started to make a patchworkblanket in enlish paperpiecingtechnique. Last year I digged it out and restarted but as I had to take a break in handsewing because of my injured wrist I needed much longer than I thought, but now it is finished!!!! Or almost finished - now I have to quilt it ;o)
I hope to be able to go to the quiltshop this week and buy a backfabric there, than I could baste the "sandwich" next weekend. Let's see...

Spencerino tutorial

Hier ist nun die Anleitung zum "Spencerino".
Now, here is the tutorial for "spencerino".

Der Schnitt basiert auf The elegant Lady's Closet von Sensibility.
Hier ist eine kleine Zeichnung wie ich ihn verändert habe.

Here is a little drawing that shows how I have altered it.










1) an der Unterkante des Vorderteils ca. 5cm zugeben.
1) at the lower edge of the frontpiece add ca. 2".

2) den Ausschnitt nach belieben etwas höher zeichnen, am Vorderteil und am Rückenteil, dabei darauf acht geben, dass die beiden Teile an der Stelle wo sie zusammengefügt werden gleich viel erhöht werden
2) draw the neckline a bit higher according to your taste, also at the centerbackpiece, be carefull to match the shoulderseam.

3) das hintere Schößchen, es besteht einfach aus einem Steifen, er ist ca. 6cm breit und doppelt so lang wie die hintere untere Kante des Jäckchens (also die Unterkante des Mittelteils und Seitenteile)
3) the back basque, it is simply a strip, it is ca. 2 1/2" broad and twice as long as the lower edge of the jacketback (lower edge of centerback and sidebacks together)

4) Die Ärmel habe ich etwas schmaler gemacht, das sollte man aber "am lebenden Objekt" abstecken, damit sie nicht zu eng werden.
4) I made the sleeves more narrow, but you should pin that while trying otherwise there is the danger of making them too tight.


Nähen:
Sewing:

1) die Unterkante und vorderkante des Vorderteils schmal säumen
1) hem the lower and centerfront edge of the frontpieces.

2) an den Ausschnitt des Vorderteils einen Tunnel nähen (entweder mit einem Schrägband oder wie hier einfach zweimal die Nahtzugabe umschlagen)
2)make a tunnel at the front neckline (either with a biasbinding or just by turning under twice)

3) auf die alte "Taillenlinie" des Vorderteils einen Tunnel aus Schrägband mit überwendlichen Stichen aufnähen
3) sew a tunnel made of biasbinding to the old "waistline"

4) Bänder in die Tunnel einziehen und an den Seiten und Schultern gut festnähen
4) draw ribbons through the tunnels and secure them at the sides and shoulders

5) die Oberkante des mittlerern Rückenteils säumen, hintere Seitenteile an das Mittelteil nähen
5) hem the upper edge of the centerbackpiece and sew the sidebacks to the centerback

6) Unterkante des Schößchens säumen, Oberkante einreihen und rechts auf rechts an das Rückenteil nähen
6) hem the lower edge of the basque, ruffle the upper edge and sew it to the back.

7) Seitennähte und Schulternähte schließen
7) sew side and shoulderseams

8) Ärmelnaht nähen, Ärmel säumen und einnähen
8) sew the sleeves, hem them and sew them in

Die wohl historisch korrektere Variante ist, das Schößchen mit überwendlichen Stichen von aussen auf das Rückenteil zu nähen, zuvor habe ich es ebenfalls mit überwendlichen Stichen zusammengerafft.
Auch habe ich alle Nähte des Korpus von aussen gearbeitet, also an einem Stück die Nahtzugabe umgebügelt, es auf das nächste gelegt und von rechts mit kleinen Rückstichen zusammengenäht

The more historical version is to sew the basque from the right side with overcast stitches to the back. I also did ruffle it with overcaststitches.
Most of the seams I did sew from the right side, I did iron under one seamallowance and lapped it over the other piece, than sew from right with tiny backstitches.

Spencerino

Für ein kleine, gemütliche Zusammenkunft im Empire im Advent musste ich mir natürlich mal wieder etwas neues nähen und herausgekommen ist "Spencerino" eine Ergänzung zu meinem weißen Picknickkleid.
("Spencerino" ist italienisch und meint schlicht und einfach "kleiner Spencer", es ist kein Fachbegriff sondern einfach ganz nett von einer lieben Freundin "erfunden" worden)

Kleine Jäckchen wie diese habe ich schon mehrfach als Originale gesehen, überwiegend französischer Herkunft, aber auch auf Abbildungen aus Deutschland um 1800.

For a little, lovely gathering this advent in the regencyera I "naturally" had to make something new, and so I have sewn "spencerino" a addition to my white picknickdress.

("Spencerino" is Italian and just means "little spencer", it is not a regency-term, but was "made up" by a dear friend)

Little Jackets like these I have already seen some in original mostly of french origin, but also on pictures from Germany around 1800.

Das nächste Teilchen im Puzzel ist fertig, der mit Glasperlen bestickte Gürtel. Im Rücken wird er wie in der Beschreibung des Modestichs erwähnt geknöpft.

The next part of the jigsaw is finished, the beaded belt. Like the description suggests, it is buttoned in the back.
