After a long quiet time (sorry, I have mooved and had no interentaccess) I'm now back with a new addiction:

Bobbinlacemaking.

I always thougt that this would be one of the crafts I would never learn, as it seemed so complicated to me, but when I read that there was a class going on in my area, I just couldn't resist.

And this are the results of this class:

My favourite lace, I have made some yards of it:

  2. Genial!!

  5. Those are simply stunning. I have to say, I love your costumes. Your blog and your flicker site are great resources. I had a question for you. My husband is super tall and thin, like yours, did you draft his frock coat or were you able to find a pattern to fit him? Thanks :-)

  6. Dear Lauren,

thank you very much for your compliments!
I love your Chemise à la reine! It fits you so well!
    Concerning patterns:
For the later styles I use the pattern of the frock-coat from "costume close-up" it perfectly fitted my husband, it is just a bit narrow arround the shoulders, but it was supposed to be like this in the 18th century.
I have also a pattern from sweden (livrustkammaren) that fitts him quite well, but I had to strech it in length ;) as the king of Sweden was very small.
I have also used J.P. Ryan's patterns, but I'm not so content with the results.

    Yours
    Cecilia

  7. Thanks so much! I've been quite curious since your hubby is so tall and lean as well. I used a simplicity pattern that I basically revamped. The first attempt never fit right through the shoulders. The second attempt seems to be good. I'm going to finish his breeches and then hopefully post some pics. Nice to "meet" you :-)

    Thanks again. Lauren
